3 ways to save on a charger this spring
The standard Level 2 charger rebate is $300. Customers with qualifying household incomes are eligible for a $600 rebate and additional financial incentives to cover installation costs (see Empower Mobility rebates section below).
Rebates will be available this spring. Here are three ways you’ll be able to save:
- Purchase through the PSE Marketplace
If you don’t have a Level 2 charger or want a new one, you can purchase a qualifying model through the PSE Marketplace this spring to receive an instant rebate. - Apply for a post-purchase rebate
If you already purchased a qualified Level 2 charger from a different source in 2024, you’ll be able to apply for the rebate retroactively once it’s available. - Hire a PSE-recommended electrician
If you need a 240-volt outlet installed – or a panel upgrade or line extension – we’ll be able to help you find a trusted contractor. In addition to installation assistance, these contractors will be able to provide instant rebates to qualified customers this spring.
Maximize the benefits of charging
Our home charger rebate isn’t the only way to save. Customers using a Level 2 charger to charge their electric vehicle at home can enroll in PSE Flex to receive a $50 gift card, as well as annual rewards.
As a Flex participant, you’ll be notified of Flex events: periods when there is a high demand for energy, such as days with extreme temperatures. During these events, you’ll allow PSE to pause your electric vehicle charging for approximately two to four hours between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. to prevent undue stress on the electrical grid.

What is PSE Flex?
PSE Flex empowers customers to work together to smooth out energy demand through smart technology and simple actions. It’s a way to help meet our region’s growing energy needs and prevent undue stress on our electrical system.
Participants in PSE Flex are encouraged to reduce their energy consumption for a few hours during periodic Flex events – such as days with extreme temperatures – through simple actions like curbing their electric vehicle charging, adjusting their thermostat and more. Customers will receive financial incentives for participating in PSE Flex and Flex events but have the option to opt out of Flex events on an event-by-event basis.
PSE Flex will play a pivotal role in our commitment to providing 100 percent carbon-free electricity by 2045. Your participation in PSE Flex helps us use more renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar.

When you charge matters
Whether or not you’re participating in PSE Flex, when you charge your electric vehicle matters. Charging at certain times of day – overnight or in the middle of the afternoon – is better for both the electrical grid and environment. It’s at those times when electricity consumption is at its lowest and energy from renewable sources like solar and wind is most available.
PSE recommends charging your EV between during the following hours:
- 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. weekdays
- 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays
- Anytime on weekends
